The North Soldiers uniforms were made of blue wool. Also they wore pocket watches attacted to their uniforms. In the summer it made the soldiers very hot and sweaty. Some carried canteens with them. They tilt their caps and wear a feather in it. Wool coats with brass buttons stamped with the U.S eagle. The North wore blue or grey for the colors of their uniforms.

Some Southern men could not afford to buy uniforms so they had to make them. Homemade Uniforms were made by the women or someone else in the houshold. They either sewed it by hand or a sewing machine. Sometimes they would use regular cloths and dyed them grey, some people ran out of blue and grey dye. Most of the time they had to use the color yellow. Most southerners wore blue or any other color.

The North and the South sometimes carried wooden or lead buttons, blankets, cartridge box on the right hip, a mucket, food in a haversack, and wool socks. They had leather tridge boxes that held 40 rounds of ammunition also it hold percussion cap, ignite powder. Also rifled muckets. They had original bulky knapsacks that they discarded for blankets. They packed writing paper, stamps, envelopes, ink, pen, razor, toothbrush, comb, and other personal itmes.

Most Southern and Northern soldiers mainly wore coats and jackets, They were mostly made by tailors or household. They were standered sizes. Also, they were usually dressed in a full suit of blue set of cloths or grey with brown shoes or black.
