Andersonville Prision

The population of Ndersonville incereased every day, at least 400 new prisioners became members of andersonville each day, there was 45,000 total of the 45,000, 13,000 had died.

This prision provided little housing, clothing and food. The only fresh water was a stream that flowed through the prision yard.

After the war Andesonville contained many mounments remembering the prisioners who once stayed there. These monuments also marked various parts of the prision.

Before andersonville opened many prisions in Richmond had become over-crowded. This was one of the main reasons that Andersonville was opened.

When first built Andersonville was 16.5 acres of opened land. Along the border of the property there was a 15 foot stockade. Andersonville was a prision in Sumter County, Georgia.

When being built Captain Richard B winder was in charge, Winder ordered Andersonville to be built.During the state off Andersonville being presnt the guards were usually young boys or old men. During the 14 months of existance over 200 of them died.

Andersonville was later calloed camp sumter, due to the location of the prision.. Andersonville was the most popular prision during the time of the war.

The conditions of the prision were worst than any other, North or South. Some of the factors that made this prision horrid were the Georgia heat, disease, filth, exposure, and lack of medial care
